Herman Braun Foundation carried out a project of the International Music Festival SUMMERTIME – INESSA GALANTE & FRIENDS taking place in Jurmala (2005 – 2012).
A new tradition has come to Latvia’s musical life in 2005. Since that time 110 000 listeners have been attended the festival concerts.
The diversity of genres was one of the indispensable conditions of the festival. Famous opera and concert singers, jazzmen, soloists-instrumentalists, choirs, orchestras, folk dancers and vocal groups were coming here to enjoy the audience.
The famous musicians have taken part in the festival, among them Inessa Galante, Raimonds Pauls, Inga Kalna. Sergej Larin, Aleksandr Antonenko, Egils Silinš, Sergejs Jēgers, Gidon Kremer, Mischa Maisky, Muza Rubackyte, Dang Thai Son, Stanislav Igolinsky, Balasz Szokolai, Vestards Šimkus, Baiba Skride, Janine Jansen, Vadim Gluzman, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Hugh Masekela, Intars Busulis, Chanticleer, The Real Group, Cosmos, Bratsch, Terem-Quartet, Mingus Big Band, Taiko Drummers, The Brazz Brothers, The Klezmatics, MoZuluArt, Moscow Virtuosos, Kremerata Baltica and Igudesman & Joo, State Academic Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Die Deutsche Kammerphilarmonie Bremen, the Latvian National Symphony orchestra, European Union Youth Orchestra, conductors Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Andris Nelsons, Aleksandrs Vilumanis, Paavo Järvi, Andrej Borejko, Kirill Karabits etc.
In 2005, December, Jurmala City Council rewarded Herman Braun Foundation with the Prize of the Year for successful realization of the first festival and valuable contribution to culture of the city.
